Caption | The charreada is one of the main attractions at the huge, month-long Aguascalientes Feria de San Marcos. The day’s events in the ring follow a strict program and feature individual and team events. The correct name for this event, or suerte which is featured in every charreada is not ‘bulltoss’, but is known as ‘El Coleadero’, the tailer. The mounted charro chases down a bull after it is released from the end of the ‘manga’, the shute leading to the main ring. He must catch the toro by the tail and drop it to the ground by wrapping its tail around his leg. To score, the charro must be able complete the maneouvre within a distance of no more than 60 meters while keeping both his horse and the bull under control. He gains maximum points if the bull falls onto its right side and rolls over onto its back. |
