| Caption | Many of the sprawling villas in Conchas Chinas were designed with entertainment and groups in mind. Quinta del Mar impeccably fulfilled both these standards when she hosted Mexico’s primo rock band Maná for an extended sojourn to the coast from their base in Guadalajara. They set up the villa as a studio-by-the-sea and made an album appropriately called Sueños Liquidos, Liquid Dreams. They liked Vallarta so much they built their own company getaway in Gringo Gulch, helped establish de Santos as the best nightclub in town and bought the city its first set of curbside rubbish bins.
