Caption | One of the last downtown seaside refuges was a strip between the Buenaventura and the Sheraton Hotels where there were a few unassuming homes, a school and a grove of huge mango trees. On October 25 2002 , when Hurricane Kenna produced 3 monster waves that wiped that landscape clear of buildings and killed all the trees except the indomitable coco palms. Now the site is up for grabs and you can bet that replanting mango trees or building a school won’t be on the development plans. Que lastima. |
